But I am so excited at this moment simply because I have just found out that I will be able to spend an average of 9 hours a day around children's books and the art that fills them beginning this Sunday.
Oh my freaking Lord I have a job at a place that I love.
It's a small bookstore on Montana in Santa Monica, directly across the street from the Aero theater, site of the Donnie Darko Movie/Wormhole scene and what is now fondly known as "Max Palevsky Cinemas" and I seriously believe that it is the name of this place that really draws me to it. It's called "Every Picture Tells a Story".
I've just spent the last hour looking over their website, looking at all the prints they have in the store, the collection of books, the drawings (by Dr. Seuss no less), and the vast amount of childhood artwork that I treasure. This is the place that my mom got the painting from my favorite book of poems "Poems by A. Nonny Mouse" and where she found the prints of the Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, A knight in Shining Armor, and Alice through the Looking Glass that are all hanging on, or at least leaning against, my walls. Our painting from the book "Balloon Farm" came from this store. The chickens waiting for the sky to fall came from this store. I think I'm about to spontaneously combust.
If you've got some time to peruse this website I highly suggest it. It's just at http://www.everypicture.com and I bet if you just look around you'll see something you recognize. I think my favorites so far that are still at the store are the wonderful Hildebrandt prints from the edition of "The Lord of the Rings" that the brothers illustrated and the prints from David Weisner's books "Tuesday", "June 29, 1999", and "SECTOR 7".
I am shaking I'm so excited.
Plus I just came up with a really good idea for a scarf.
